Authorities identify people involved in fatal Ashland County crash

The three-vehicle crash left one person dead and two others injured.

ASHLAND COUNTY — The Wisconsin State Patrol has released the names of the people involved in a three-vehicle crash along U.S. Highway 2 in Ashland County that left one woman dead.

Killed in the incident was Crystal Buccanero, 37, of Hurley, who was driving one of the vehicles. Two Washburn residents, Eric and Alexandra Bohman, both 37, were injured. Also involved were Gwen Arbuckle, 64, of Odanah and a 10-year-old Odanah girl.

The three-vehicle crash occurred along U.S. Highway 2 west of Birch Hill Road around 6:20 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

A Dodge Dart driven by Arbuckle entered the highway from a residential driveway west of Birch Hill Road, putting it in the path of a westbound Chevrolet Equinox driven by Buccanero, according to the news release. The Equinox collided with the Dart and an eastbound GMC Sierra, driven by Eric Bohman.

Buccanero was pronounced dead at the scene. The Bohmans were transported by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

All of the people involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol. Assisting agencies included the Iron and Ashland County sheriff’s offices, Ashland Fire Department and EMS, Ashland County Coroner, Saxon Fire Department and Odanah Rescue.
