According to a DPS news release, officers were called to the scene of the crash at 8:50 p.m. on State Highway 15, about five miles southwest of Spearman.

A 2007 KIA Rio driven by Joani Ortiz-Carrazco, 30, of Morse was eastbound on SH 15 and approaching a left-hand curve in the roadway. As the vehicle entered the curve, it traveled off the roadway to the south, officials said.

The driver abruptly swerved to the left causing the Rio to enter a side skid and roll over multiple times, coming to a final rest upright facing north, south of the roadway, the release states.

Ortiz-Carrazco, who wasn't wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Hansford County Justice of the Peace Bob Davis.

Three passengers in the vehicle, who were all wearing seat belts, all received nonlife-threatening injuries and were transported to the hospital in Spearman, according to DPS officials.

The passengers were Raul Carrazco, 47, of Spearman; Daniela Guardiola, 31, of Morse; and a 5-year-old female child of Morse.

Posted speed limit in the area is 75 mph and the road conditions were dry on the paved highway.

The crash remains under investigation by Texas Highway Patrol Troopers. Information may change, be corrected, or added based on the investigator’s findings.
