J’Nai Bridges, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Dawn Upshaw, Daniela Mack, Alek Shrader Headline Caramoor 2022 Summer Festival

Caramoor has announced its 2022 summer season, which runs between June 18 through August 19, 2022.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be on opera and vocal performances.

Soprano Christine Taylor Price and baritone Thomas West headline “Pops & Patriots” alongside the Westchester Symphony Winds and conductor Curt Ebersole. The showcase features music by Smith, Porter, Thomas, Gould, Goldman, Sondheim, Tchaikovsky, and Sousa.

Performance Date: July 2, 2022

Mezzo-soprano J’Nai Bridges will make her company debut in a recital alongside pianist Bradley Moore. The duo will perform music by Ravel, Schubert, Brahms, Albert Hay Malotte, Margaret Bonds, Carlos Simon, Shawn Okpebholo, and John Carter.

Performance Date: July 7, 2022

Dawn Upshaw and the Brentano String Quartet will perform “Dido Reimagined” featuring music by Purcell and Melinda Wagner. There will also be music by Locke, Dowland, Tomkins, Bryd, and Johnson.

Performance Date: July 15, 2022

The company, in collaboration with On Site Opera, will present “Lesson Plan” starring Stephanie Blythe, Laquita Mitchell. The second half of the program will feature Blythe as Don José as she takes on scenes from “Carmen” alongside mezzo Maya Lahyani. The trio will perform a wide range of duets and arias for two piano arrangement.

The Trinity Baroque Orchestra and The Choir of Trinity Wall Street will perform Händel’s “Theodora” with Anthony Roth Costanzo, Daniela Mack, Tyler Duncan, Alek Shrader, and Marie-Eve Munger. Julian Wachner conducts.

Performance Date: July 31, 2022

VOCES8 will present “Stardust” which includes music by Taylor Scott Davis as well as music from around the world.

Performance Date: August 4, 2022

Les Arts Florissants under William Christie will join forces with mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre for a concert of music by Hahn, Charpentier, Offenbach, and M. Legrand, among others.
