OMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton guard
Trey Alexander has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. Alexander averaged 13.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game as the Bluejays went 1-1 last week.

Alexander had all 16 of his career-high 16 points in the second half of Creighton's 81-78 win at St. John's on Wednesday. He made 7-of-10 shots from the field and added five rebounds in addition to tying his career high with six assists while helping CU overcome a 46-39 halftime deficit.

Alexander then had 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and CU's only steal on Saturday evening at #11 Providence in his first career start as CU's point guard.
Alexander was previously recognized on Jan. 24 and Feb. 7. Combined with teammates
Ryan Nembhard (Nov. 15, Nov. 22, Nov. 29, Dec. 20, Jan. 17, Feb. 21) and
Arthur Kaluma (Feb. 14), Creighton has now won 10 of the league's 15 Freshman of the Week awards this season, including six of the past seven weeks.
Creighton (19-9, 11-6 BIG EAST) is scheduled to return to the court on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when it hosts No. 21 Connecticut (21-7, 12-5 BIG EAST).
