George Washington Carver

Esther Kauffeld Hoffa, a volunteer with the Warren County Historical Society, talks to a group of Indianola fifth graders in 2019 about George Washington Carver, who attended Simpson College and lived in Indianola before going on to become a world-famous scientist. The shack where Carver is supposed to have lived while at Simpson is one of the artifacts the historical society is working to preserve.

Simpson College will mark Black History Month with a virtual presentation on George Washington Carver via Zoom on Monday, Feb. 28, by Simpson College librarian and archivist, Cyd Dyer.

While you are talking about Carver and mentioning Etta May Bud as his teacher you might know that Etta Bud started the Delta Delta Delta sorority on Simpson campus as well.
