Russell (undisclosed) was moved to long-term injured reserve Sunday.
Russell has already missed Edmonton's last 11 games and hasn't played since January. This is simply a paper move that could help the Oilers as the trade deadline approaches. The veteran defenseman has four assists through 20 games this season.
