The Boston Celtics could have interest in reinforcements on the buyout market, but who will be available?

Two popular names that continually appear in buyout talks–mainly due to the futility of their current teams–are Orlando Magic guard Gary Harris and Oklahoma City Thunder big man Mike Muscala.

But they may not available for the Cs ahead of the March 1st trade deadline.

MassLive’s Brian Robb revealed as much in his Boston Celtics Mailbag when answering a reader’s question about the pair, citing the two franchise’s unwillingness to give them up:

"Muscala would certainly be a good depth piece but he’s been comfortable in OKC for awhile so hard to see him hitting the market to just serve as bench depth somewhere. The one name that would make a lot of sense for Boston is Gary Harris but from what I’m hearing, Orlando hasn’t been interested in a buyout to this point."

The Boston Celtics seem more likely to look at in-house options

Boston needed to sign free agents to satisfy the league’s roster requirements recently, and President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens went with Malik Fitts and Kelan Martin instead of a veteran like Greg Monroe or Isaiah Thomas that has already worn green in their careers.

Stevens seems keen on bringing back past names, but there seems to be a limit on who he’d welcome back. While the world is dying to see IT back with the team he broke out on, guys on the Maine Celtics are more likely to get upgraded to the big leagues, while it’s possible more guys fitting the Fitts and Martin molds get a look from Stevens.

That aspect of the Cs roster is an unknown, but what appears more certain is a post March 1st roster that doesn’t include Harris or Muscala.
