The Foo Fighters’ music is so good—it had to come from a different entity. From the mind of Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl, Studio 666 is a comedy horror that stars all members of the band as they fight for survival in Encino.
The cast includes Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, Rami Jaffee, Whitney Cummings, Will Forte, Jenna Ortega, Leslie Grossman, and Jeff Garlin. BJ McDonnell directed the movie from the screenplay written by Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes on the story by Grohl.

In Studio 666, Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Foo Fighters moves into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock history to record their much anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.

LRM Online’s Gig Patta chatted with some of the Foo Fighters, including frontman Dave Grohl, rhythm guitarist Pat Smear, and lead guitarist Chris Shiflett.
Dave Grohl is best known as the drummer for the 1990s Seattle grunge band Nirvana and is the frontman and guitarist of Foo Fighters. At the age of 17, he joined the punk rock band Scream after the departure of Kent Stax. He followed up as the drummer of Nirvana until its disbandment in April 1994. He formed the Foo Fighters as a one-man project and extended later to a full band. The band released ten studio albums.
Pat Smear was a founding member of the punk band the Germs and the touring guitarist for the grunge band Nirvana from 1993 to 1994. Smear joined Grohl for the newly formed Foo Fighters but left in 1997. He rejoined the group as a touring guitarist in 2005 and became a full-time member ever since 2010.
Chris Shiflett was previously a member of the punk rock bands No Use for a Name and Me First and Gimme Gimmes. He joined the Foo Fighters in 1999 following the release of their third album There Is Nothing Left to Lose. Also, he hosts the podcast Walking the Floor and released two solo albums.
Studio 666 is currently in theaters today.
