The largest franchise owner of Burger King restaurants in the United States said it is reducing the number of chicken nuggets in its meals from 10 pieces to eight.
Carrols Restaurant group told investors about the decision to reduce the number of chicken nuggets in its meals to “partially offset inflation” without having to increase the price of the meals, CNN reported.
In a statement to investors, Daniel Accordino, Carrols’ president and CEO said, “Due to recent and future anticipated pricing actions, continued menu and promotional activity optimization, and a potentially easing of cost pressures on a year-over-year basis, we believe that we will be able to claw back a portion of the margin erosion experienced in 2021 in the back half of 2022.”
Carrols is the largest Burger King franchisee in the United States, reporting it currently operates 1,028 restaurants in 23 states. Carrols has been a Burger King franchisee since 1976.

It was not immediately clear when the changes took effect, but on Friday a New York-area Burger King owned by Carrols only had the 8-piece option available, WNBC reported.
Carrols made other changes to its menus late last year because of increasing costs as well, removing the Whopper from the discounted meals menu and reducing the number of discounts it offers, CNN reported.
