Governor Mike Parson signs the 2022 supplemental budget bill.

The signing took place Thursday, hours after the General Assembly signed off on it, with the governor heralding its inclusion of pay raises for state employees and critical funding for K-12 schools.

The budget totals more than $4.6 billion, including $401.5 million in general revenue.  The plan covers costs through the end of the state’s fiscal year which ends in June.

The budget includes a 5.5 percent cost of living adjustment for state employees.  However, Parson’s request to raise the state employee minimum wage to $15 was cut from the budget.

Close to $2 billion was allocated to be distributed to public school districts.  Both child care services and school food programs received millions of dollars.  And the budget includes extra funding for newly-eligible Medicaid recipients.

However, Republican lawmakers tacked a provision onto the budget aimed at blocking any public funding for Planned Parenthood centers.  It’s unclear whether that decision will end up in court.
