Candidates don't care enough to show up, by Ann Carlson

Our public schools have recently been at the center of many issues facing the nation: from how to accurately present and teach our nation’s history, to protecting students’ physical safety, to helping our young people understand and navigate the diversity of our vibrant communities. School boards are critical to shaping how we as a community respond to these important and timely issues.

Apparently five of the eight candidates running for the board felt no need to attend or even provide written responses to questions posed. Kudos to Lancaster and Roberts who attended in person and Filiault who provided written responses to the questions.

I hope Keene voters note that Clancy, Ferrantello, Macie, Page and Rossall did not make it a priority to participate, even with the briefest of written response. One wonders whether, if elected, they would find the work of the board to be of an equally low priority.
