It may be 20 years since LCD Soundsystem first formed in New York City, but according to recent reviews, the band is still great live.

And those who love the band have four opportunities to see them – they’re set to play Roadrunner April 3, 4, 5 and 6. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 25.

This isn’t the first time the band has stayed at a venue for more than the customary one or two nights. Last November, they played 17 shows for a residency at Brooklyn Steel, according to Brooklyn Vegan. (It was supposed to be 20, but Omicron put the kibosh on the final three.) They were the first shows the band had played in New York City in four years, and their first shows period in the last three years.

“Despite some recurring amp issues, LCD rolled with the punches for a pretty terrific first set back after a three-year hibernation which was in front of a very appreciative crowd,” the reviewer for Brooklyn Vegan wrote at the time.

The band threw in some gems that hadn’t been played in a while, according to the publication.

“LCD played most all the favorites — ‘I Can Change,’ ‘Daft Punk is Playing at My House,’ ‘Home,’ ‘Dance Yrself Clean,’ ‘Someone Great,’ ‘Tribulations’ — as well as a few deep cuts,” according to Brooklyn Vegan. “We got ‘On Repeat,’ which hadn’t been played since 2007, ‘Thrills,’ which hadn’t been played since 2011, and their cover of Joy Division’s ‘No Love Lost,’ which ended their main set, which they hadn’t done since 2007.”

Just over a decade ago now, the band played what was supposed to be its final show at Madison Square Garden in 2011. They then released “The Long Goodbye” in 2014, a recording of the show. Obviously, we now know it wasn’t actually goodbye, but fans had the opportunity last summer to buy a reissue of the album, which had been out of print, according to Rolling Stone.

“Billed as the group’s ‘final’ show, it featured guest appearances from Arcade Fire’s Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, Reggie Watts, the Juan MacLean, Sh—t Robot, Planningtorock, and Light Asylum’s Shannon Funchess,” the magazine said.

But even if we don’t see any special guests during their Roadrunner stint, fans will no doubt be happy just to see the acclaimed electronic rockers back on stage.
