Cantonese and Szechuan restaurant Pagoda is reopening in Roseville, nearly a year after it closed in Dinkytown.

A Chinese restaurant known for its dim sum and hot pot has relocated to Roseville after it was displaced from its original location in Minneapolis' Dinkytown neighborhood.

Cantonese and Szechuan eatery Pagoda reopened Tuesday at 2401 Fairview Ave. N, across from Rosedale Center, following a nearly yearlong temporary shutdown.

Pagoda opened at 1417 Fourth St. SE. in 2007 and closed last March ahead of the building's teardown to make way for CA Venture's student apartment development. Other longtime businesses, including McDonald's and Dinkytown Wine & Spirits, also shuttered as a result.

Owner Justin Lin said Roseville is the ideal place to move Pagoda because there's plenty of parking, unlike in Dinkytown, and it's closer to customers who live north or east of Minneapolis. He said many customers excited for the restaurant's return made reservations, and he expected a full house Tuesday night.

"A lot of people are showing their support," Lin said. "I'm very grateful for that."

Pagoda is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Pagoda will only offer its regular and dim sum menus to start and eventually add hot pot again.
