LAKE WORTH BEACH — A 51-year-old West Palm Beach man died Friday from injuries he sustained this month when a vehicle hit him in Lake Worth Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported Tuesday.

Allen Daniel died at Broward Health Medical Center. A BMW hit him on the morning of Feb. 9 after he stepped off a bus and attempted to cross Lake Worth Road, about 50 feet east of the Akron Street intersection, just west of Interstate 95, PBSO said.

Investigators say Daniel improperly crossed the roadway. Paramedics took him to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach and later transferred him to the Broward hospital because he was an organ donor.

The PBSO crash report does not indicate that any charges are pending. The driver of the BMW, a 20-year-old Broward County resident, did not sustain injuries, according to the report.
