MCU Fans Want Jennifer Garner to Replace Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp Amid Recent Controversy

Evangeline Lilly has been a staple in the MCU as she plays the role of Hope van Dyne ever since the first Ant-Man film in 2015. She is expected to continue the role in the franchise, particularly in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which has already finished filming. However, thanks to her controversy regarding her attendance at the anti-vaccine mandate protest in D.C. and calling out Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to hear out the anti-vaxxers, a lot of fans now want the actress to be out of the MCU.

One of the actresses that the MCU fans on Twitter have been clamoring to replace Lilly in the role of the Wasp is Jennifer Garner. The Emmy-nominated actress is no stranger to the Marvel Universe as she previously played Elektra in 2003's Daredevil and the 2005 spin-off Elektra. She also starred in the hit spy drama series Alias and films such as 13 Going on 30, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Dallas Buyers Club, Love, Simon, Yes Day, and the upcoming film The Adam Project where she co-stars with Marvel actors Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, and Zoe Saldana.

Here are some of the tweets from fans who want to see Garner replace Lilly in the role of the Hope van Dyne/Wasp in the MCU:

It wouldn't be a bad idea to see Garner play the Wasp in the MCU. After all, as we've stated, she has played a superhero before and done a lot of action roles so she has proved enough that she can be great in taking a role like the Wasp. She is also a talented actress (in both drama and comedy) which would be perfect for the tone of the MCU.

However, it is not highly likely that we will see Marvel Studios replace Lilly with another actress on the role of Wasp since they rarely recast a major role once it has appeared in multiple films. Even in the case of T' Challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman, they decided to have another character take on the mantle of Black Panther instead of recasting the role. For now, it is unlikely that Marvel will fire Lilly unless the actress will embroil in a bigger controversy that will result in a major backlash from all fans. It would be interesting to see if the studio will actually address the actress' recent controversy or, as expected, just leave it as it may be.
