Baby Found Abandoned Under a Bush in Arizona Desert

U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents found a baby wrapped in camouflage under a bush in the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument on Wednesday, Feb 16.

Border patrol agents at the Ajo station reported they had obtained a Guatemalan woman about 40 minutes prior to finding the infant.

It was only after the agents discovered the baby abandoned, the woman claimed to be the mother.

Officials reported that the mother claimed she had asked another member of their group who were illegally crossing through the national park to carry the infant. She said she did not intentionally place her child in danger.

Both mother and baby were seen by medical crews and were determined to be in good health with no injuries.

Border Patrol then processed the two under Title 42 guidelines, expelling them to Mexico through the Lukeville, Arizona Port of Entry.
