Savard congratulates Kane on achievement originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Patrick Kane passed Denis Savard for second-most assists in franchise history during Sunday's game at the United Center.
Kane recorded his 720th assist in the third period against the Florida Panthers on a goal that came from Caleb Jones. Kane now trails behind Stan Mikita who holds the record at 926 assists.

After the game, Savard recorded a congratulatory message to Kane via the Blackhawks official Facebook page. Here's what Savard had to say to the future Hall-of-Famer:
"Kaner, congratulations. I know how hard it is to get there. Been there and done that. And obviously with the career that you've had so far, it's been so great to see you achieve so many records in the organization and around the league. One thing for sure, most impressive is that you have many, many more years to play. We're so lucky to have you. I know our fans appreciate the way you play, what you've done here for this organization. So, enjoy your night. Congratulations again and see you soon."
Kane was drafted first overall by the Blackhawks in the 2007 NHL Draft and Savard was his first head coach.
In 17 seasons in the NHL, Savard played 13 with the Blackhawks and was the head coach from 2006-08. He had 473 goals and 865 assists in 1,196 games. Savard was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2000 and currently serves as a team ambassador for the Blackhawks.
