In honor of Black History Month, TV star Tia Mowry teamed up with her TV moms Jackée Harry (‘Sister Sister’) and Loretta Devine (‘Family Reunion’) to dish about the importance of Black representation in front of and behind the cameras.
Over the course of the nearly 26-minute convo on Tia’s YouTube platform ‘Quick Fix,’ the trio of award-winning acting vets elaborated on the history of powerful Black women on screen, why there’s a need for even more powerful Black women in writer’s rooms and behind the camera, and so much more.
A stand out from the conversation, however, may just be Mowry and Harry’s reflection on why the highly anticipated ‘Sister Sister’ reboot fell through not long after it was announced the series was being picked up again.
Before dishing on ‘Sister Sister,’ the trio broached the topic of gender pay inequities in Hollywood. Tia revealed she experienced the discrimination firsthand when her husband – actor Cory Hardrict – brought home a larger paycheck than her, despite her tenure.
“Mr. Cory Hardrict, and when he booked a role, he was getting paid more money than me, and I’m like, ‘what?,” she said before later adding,“I have been in this business for so long. I have shown my credibility. And this is, like, Cory’s first television show. And I think it was because he is a male.”
Elsewhere, Harry and Mowry detailed where plans for a ‘Sister Sister’ reboot went left.
“It’s a legal thing,” Harry started at the 20:10 mark of the video above.
While the comment is one the Mowrys and Harry have previously expressed was the hold up for relaunching the show as a series, Tia indicates it’s also blocking the chance of a reunion as well.
Elaborating on Jackee’s comment, she said:
“It’s disappointing because a lot of people wanted to know why and that’s [the legal thing] is what it is. We were actually moving forward – with a script and even had a network. Then, all of a sudden,..[everything stopped].”

The news comes just days after it was announced another classic Black sitcom, ‘Martin,’ is gearing up to have its cast reunite via a 30th anniversary BET+ special.
