A transient found hiding in a hotel closet allegedly told Iowa City Police he was “James Woods”.
The first clue investigators had that Jamaal Green was not the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actor was that he was a 30-year-old black man standing 5’9″ tall and weighing 240 pounds.
Officers were called to the Hilton Garden Inn on South Clinton Street just before 12:30am on January 25th for a trespassing male. Arriving police say they found Green hiding in a second-floor closet. Green claimed he was “James Woods”, and he was hiding in the hotel closet to stay out of the cold. Police say he continued making the claim even after being informed that giving false identity information was a crime. Green was later identified by previous booking photos and prior calls for service.
Green was arrested and charged with Providing False Identity Information. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail. A hearing is set for Monday.
