BERKELEY – Cal alum Ifeoma Onumonu was called up to the Nigerian national team for the second time in her career. She will participate in the second round of the Women's African Cup of Nations Qualifying. Nigeria resume Women's AFCON qualifying with a clash against Cote D'Ivoire in Abuja, Nigeria on February 28th.

She made her international debut in Nigeria's win over Jamaica. A native of Rancho Cucamonga, California, Onumonu appeared for the U-23 U.S. Women's National Team earlier in her career but chose to represent Nigeria on the senior international level.

She is coming off a stellar 2021 campaign for Gotham FC, which saw her make 25 appearances and 22 starts for the club. Onumonu led the team in points and finished second in goals and assists as she found the back of the net eight times and provided four helpers.

Onumonu was drafted by the Boston Breakers with the 8th overall pick in the 2017 NWSL College Draft. She appeared in 18 games for Boston in her rookie season. She also played for the Portland Thorns and Reign FC in the NWSL before joining Gotham FC in 2020.
