Georgia high school senior dies days after crash that killed 15-year-old brother

DODGE COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia high school senior has died just days after a crash that also killed his younger brother.

Cameron Powell and Ethan Holder were in an accident in Dodge County on Feb. 15, according to a GoFundMe set up to help the family.

Both brothers were airlifted to the hospital, where 15-year-old Ethan died.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Kate Parkerson Road in Chauncey, which is in central Georgia, south of Macon.

Cameron was kept on life support so that he could donate his organs. His mother, Rhonda Powell, said he would not have wanted to be kept alive on machines and that his brother was waiting for him in Heaven.

“He wanted to be a organ donor cause that’s just how big of a heart he has,” Rhonda Powell wrote on Facebook. “He is still with us right now because of the machines. I know deep down my boys would want to be together cause they were that close. They were inseparable.”

Cameron died Thursday morning after donating his organs to six people, according to his mother.

Cameron Powell was 18 years old and about to graduate from high school.

According to the GoFundMe, the boys did not have life insurance. The community has raised more than $13,000 to help cover their funeral expenses.

Chauncey is a small town of less than 300 people.
