From the Chambers County Sheriff's Office:
Sheriff Brian Hawthorne reports that on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at approximately 4:24 a.m. Chambers County Sheriff’s Office deputies were notified by dispatch that the owner of a black 2019 Dodge 2500 was tracking her stolen vehicle by GPS and the last known location of the vehicle was in the area of IH-10 and FM 565.
Corporal Burt and Deputy Shipman arrived in the area of the Shell Gas Station located at 16151 IH-10 and observed a 2015 GMC Sierra, a 2021 GMC Sierra and the 2019 Dodge 2500 that was reported stolen, with two males rummaging through the stolen Dodge pickup.
As deputies approached the suspects, both fled on foot into a field next to the gas station. Deputies pursued, apprehended and placed under arrest 25 year old Mauro Espinoza of Houston, and 21 year old Guillermo Trejo-Ruiz, 20, also of Houston.
The 2021 GMC Sierra was reported stolen off Medina Drive in the River Farms Sub Division; the Dodge pickup was found to be stolen from the Crystal Lake RV Resort on FM 565.
The third vehicle, a 2015 GMC Sierra, was found to be one of the suspect’s vehicle, and a custody arrest vehicle inventory revealed 4 handguns, one of which was a Glock handgun with no serial number. Witnesses stated that a third male was involved but he was not located. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
Both suspects were transported and booked into the Chambers County jail for the following charges:
Theft of Property - Motor Vehicle – 3RD Degree Felony
Theft of Property - Motor Vehicle – 3RD Degree Felony
Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon – Class A Misdemeanor
Evading Arrest/Detention – Class A Misdemeanor
