JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba will held a news conference on Monday, February 14.

The Jackson Police Department (JPD) started the new Tickets and Tow (TAT) initiative at the start of 2022. The plan creates checkpoints around the city in efforts too reduce crime. Mayor Lumumba addressed the TAT plan during the conference.

“We are not going to major in that minor. That being said, people who don’t have the proper documentation can receive citations for not having that documentation. I do want to express to the community the importance of these roadblocks. These roadblocks are important when we’ve had communities that have been plagued by car jackings or by other forms of violence. These are useful tools to the police department to help mitigate some of those concerns,” said Lumumba.

His statement comes after Deputy Chief Hearn said last week that citizens caught driving without proper identification or insurance will be arrested.
