In Loving Memory of Stella Belle Sintas

Obituary

Stella Belle (Martinez) Sintas, (88) passed away Monday, February 7, 2022 surrounded by her family.  She was born October 20, 1933 to Lewis and Eutemia (Chavez) Martinez in Des Moines, NM.  She is survived by her children Connie Asuncion, Conchita Sintas, Alfred (Maryann) Sintas, Gary (Joan) Sintas, Pete (Becky) Sintas, Ron (Janette) Sintas and Janet (James) Laros; 15 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sisters Earlene LeDoux, Marion Rodriguez and brother Dickie (Bobbie) Martinez; brother-in-law Frank Sintas and sister-in-law Mary Sena.  She was preceded in death by the love of her life Alfred (Pete) Sintas whom she was with from the age of 14; her daughter Rosa Lynn, her great grandson Ki-Johna, her parents, her sisters Molly Ortiz, Lillian Archuleta, Pauline Raught, Charlene Winn and brother Lewis Martinez, Jr.Mom will be profoundly missed by her family and many in the community of Raton where she raised her family.  Her greatest accomplishment was cooking in the kitchen for her children and grandchildren where she was famous for her bread and tortillas.  She was extremely proud of her election as a Raton City Commissioner.  She was dedicated to the causes of the people and took her job very seriously.  Mom was always there for someone in need and many people will remember her for her generosity.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Conchita and Becky for their support the last few years that allowed mom to stay in her home.

Her viewing will be at Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 15 from 1:00 – 3:00.  Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be held at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wednesday, February 16, at 10:00 AM, recited by the Legion of Mary, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.   Rite of Committal and Interment to follow at Des Moines Catholic Cemetery.

    Stella,
    You will be missed deeply by everyone who knew you. I consider myself very lucky to have known you the past several years and worked with you on city issues. You were an inspiration to me and everyone you came in contact with. Your heart of gold touched so many people in Raton and your example of hard work and dedication was a model for all of us who knew you and loved you.
    Thank you for being you and may you rest in peace.
