Former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman arrived with some fanfare to place his wager on Sunday's pro football championship.
Goodman walked into Westgate Las Vegas Friday morning accompanied by a showgirl on his arm to make a bet on Super Bowl LVI between the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.
Before getting to business, the former mayor - and husband of the current mayor - took a drink from an extra-large martini glass and chatted with reporters about his thoughts on the game.
He ran into some trouble when it came time to make a bet, however. Goodman asked to make a parlay: Bengals running back Joe Mixon to win Super Bowl MVP and the Bengals to beat the spread at +4.
However, he was informed that he cannot parlay the game line and a prop, leading to some friendly banter between him and Westgate SuperBook executive vice president Jay Kornegay.
A proposition bet, or prop bet, is a wager on an event in a game that doesn't affect the final outcome. A parlay is a bet on two or more events with the condition that they all win.
The former mayor ultimately wagered $100 on Mixon to win Super Bowl MVP at 8 to 1 odds, meaning a win would net $800.
Goodman makes a habit out of visiting Westgate to bet on big sporting events. He visited the SuperBook last year for his Super Bowl and college basketball wagers.
