Will Muschamp and Glenn Schumann have received raises as they are now Georgia’s co-defensive coordinators following the departure of Dan Lanning to Oregon.

The raises went into effect on Feb. 1, but the length of new contracts was not released, according to Seth Emerson of The Athletic.

Both will make $800,000, and it’s a jump from $300,000 for Muschamp, and a move from $600,000 for Schumann.

Muschamp is entering his second season on the Georgia staff as the former South Carolina head coach initially came over as a defensive analyst and then was promoted to an on-field assistant after Scott Cochran stepped away from the program. Muschamp is at his fourth program as defensive coordinator after previous stints as a DC at Auburn, Texas and LSU.

Schumann was named co-defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach at Georgia in February of 2019 after 3 seasons in charge of the Bulldogs’ inside linebackers. He came to UGA after 8 seasons at Alabama, his last 2 serving as the director of player development and associate director of player personnel.

Georgia had a historic defense in 2021, and finished No. 2 in the country in total defense. In the previous 2 seasons, Georgia’s defense led the nation in rushing defense in both 2019 (74.6 ypg) and 2020 (72.3 ypg), in scoring defense in 2019 (12.6 ppg), and in rushing TDs allowed (2, UGA record) in 2019. The Bulldogs ranked 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in total defense nationally in the 2020 and 2019 seasons.
