Victor Cruz knows the joy, and the pain, that comes with being a star wide receiver for the New York Giants…and he told Tiki & Tierney on Thursday that he’s happy for another beleaguered former WR1 who has big opportunity on Sunday.

“I’m so happy for him to get this opportunity to play in this game,” Cruz told Tiki & Tierney of Odell Beckham Jr.’s appearance in Sunday’s Super Bowl LVI. “It’s unlike any other game you’ll ever play in, and I’m definitely rooting for the Rams.”

But what about Giants fans who have still had a bad taste in their mouths, even long after OBJ left town?

“I think they are, too. I think they understand things happen, and it’s always a business where business moves will happen, good or bad, that you have to live with,” Cruz said. “There will always be things you’re not happy with as a fan, but I made a post when they won (the NFC Championship) and all the comments were positive. I think that ship has sailed for Giants fans, and they just want to see him do well.”

It seems, at least according to Cruz, part of that comes from OBJ being a much different player, and a much different person, now that he’s a Ram.

“From the beginning to now I’ve seen him grow so much throughout the years,” Cruz said. “When you come into the league as a first-round pick, and you’re so excited and you come make a splash – that’s not an easy thing for anyone to handle, period, regardless of how you feel he handled it. But, going through what he went through in Cleveland really helped him understand the business of football, and what he needs to do to be successful. His move to Los Angeles has been seamless, because he has matured and understands how to play the game on and off the field.”
