WATCH: 2News speaks to Josh Powell in 2009 just after Susan Powell went missing

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (KUTV) — Interest in Susan Powell's disappearance has gained new traction in recent days as a crew searched a mine in the West Desert for her remains.

The West Desert is the area where Josh was allegedly camping the night his wife went missing, he told 2News' Chris Jones in a 2009 interview.

Jones spoke to Josh outside the home where he and Susan lived. In the 6-minute interview, Josh said he had gone camping and was "doing s'mores" with his two sons when Susan disappeared. He claimed he didn't find out about his wife's disappearance until the following day.

"I didn't do anything," Josh says during the interview. "I don't know where she's at. I don't even know where to start looking."
