Laura Wright Promises She’s Not Leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL
The Carly/Sonny/Nina triangle on GENERAL HOSPITAL has fans in an uproar and social media is absolutely flooded with opinions flying fast and furious on all sides. And while some viewers may not be particularly happy with the recent twists and turns to the storyline, actress Laura Wright (Carly) is loving every soapy moment of the drama. And despite talk to the contrary, Carly is definitely going to remain a big part of it!
Wright is very active on social media and often responds to fans’ queries on Twitter. Which is good because when one fan asked if she was leaving GH, she quickly shot that down before it had a chance to spread. “Nope,” she declared definitively. “People love to start rumors.” The actress even threw in a few shrugging emojis to show she has no idea where stories like this get started.
While the internet is a place where everyone can express their opinions, Wright is quick to set the record straight when it comes to people spreading misinformation and damaging rumors. During a recent Twitter exchange, when one “fan” suggested that she and GH co-star Roger Howarth (Austin) did not like working together, she responded (in a tweet that has since been deleted): “This is a horrible lie. I loved working with Roger! Carly and Todd were a favorite of mine! Stop spreading lies.”
Longtime fans know that Howarth has had many different roles on GH, first appearing as his ONE LIFE TO LIVE alter ego Todd Manning before taking over the role of Franco Baldwin and now Austin Gatlin-Holt. So over the years, Wright has worked with Howarth as multiple characters — Carly dated Todd for a while, and then nearly married Franco! (Although even though she’s currently on the outs with Sonny, it’s unlikely Carly would turn to Austin… but you never know!)
So while Wright may accept that GH fans have very different opinions on Carly’s current storyline, she won’t allow vicious rumors to spread if she has anything to say about it!
