The woman was driving in the outside westbound lane of SR 54 when she lost control of the 2015 Honda sedan around 9:13 a.m., troopers said. She drove across the median, the eastbound lanes and the shoulder of the road before going into a pond located west of Henning Lane.

The woman’s sedan was completely submerged in the pond when emergency crews arrived, the Highway Patrol said in a news release Wednesday afternoon. She was declared dead at the scene.
