DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – History buffs will have the chance to bid on a one-of-a-kind item connected to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
Dallas-based Heritage Auctions is taking bids on Jack Ruby’s fingerprint sheet.
The Dallas nightclub owner was forever etched in American history when he shot and killed JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald as he was being led out of Dallas Police headquarters November 24, 1963, a day after the president was killed.
Ruby was charged a day later with “murder and malice.” Now his booking card can be bought by memorabilia collectors.
“This is a really unique item tied to one of the biggest players in the event. Jack Ruby actually touched this he left his print on it,” said Mike Provenzale with Heritage.
The card remained in tact thanks to a request by a former employee of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department.
“It came into the industry because one of the employees of the sheriff’s department was given permission to keep items like this and it comes with a letter of provenance from him,” said Mike Provenzale with Heritage.
The opening bid is set at $10,000 but is expected to fetch around $40,000.
