Sally Hansen, Perfect Corp Launch Virtual Try-On Tool

Beauty brand Sally Hansen has launched a virtual try-on tool with the help of Perfect Corp.’s AgileHand Technology, allowing consumers to experience hundreds of Sally Hansen nail color options in an augmented reality environment.

The tool, announced Tuesday (Feb. 8) in a news release, is available from any mobile device and lets consumers see their chosen nail color on a live moving image of their hand. Whether shopping online or in person, it creates a new shopping experience while taking the mess out of purchasing nail products.

Coty, Sally Hansen’s parent company, entered an agreement with Perfect Corp., an artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) beauty and fashion tech solutions provider, at the end of last year, pledging to embed AR and AI experiences into its digital marketing.

The Sally Hansen virtual try-on tool is the first fruit of that partnership, although the company hints at other tools down the road, including virtual try-on, online skin diagnostics and data-driven personalization, across Coty’s portfolio of cosmetics, skin and fragrance brands.

“Nail polish is a highly impulsive category — consumers love to experiment with any number of shades and finishes,” said Jean-Denis Mariani, chief digital officer at Coty.

“Now, Sally Hansen fans can feel free to play even more with our new virtual try-on tool. The technology that Perfect Corp. has created is truly unmatched in the market — offering an augmented reality experience where consumers see how a precisely color-matched polish performs on their exact skin tone and nail shape and in changing lighting.”

The announcement comes weeks after the news that Perfect Corp., beauty brand MAC Cosmetics and online product sampling platform SoPost were collaborating on a personalized product sampling experience for MAC Cosmetics’ Studio Fix Fluid Foundation.

The project joins augmented reality virtual try-on, personalized artificial intelligence (AI) shade matching and physical product sampling, closing the gap between the digital and physical shopping and allowing consumers to make better decisions.
