Rockies extend manager Bud Black through 2023 season

DENVER -- The Rockies and manager Bud Black have agreed on a one-year contract extension through 2023, the team announced on Tuesday.
The Denver Post first reported the extension.
Black, 64, has gone 349-359 with the Rockies in five seasons that included postseason trips in his first two seasons (2017 and '18). He was heading into the final year of a three-year contract. Before joining the Rockies, Black managed the Padres for nine seasons (649-713).
Former general manager Jeff Bridich hired Black to replace Walt Weiss after the 2016 season. Bridich resigned as GM during last season and was replaced by Bill Schmidt. Black and Schmidt built their original working relationship while working for the Cleveland front office during the 1990s.
Black’s .493 winning percentage is the highest in club history.
