Death in Paradise spoilers follow.

Death in Paradise star Ralf Little has shared his thoughts on Joséphine Jobert's exit from the show.

Fans of the police procedural drama recently saw Jobert's character Detective Sergeant Florence Cassell say goodbye to the island, with her final episode airing at the end of January.

Her character, first introduced in season four, previously left Saint Marie in 2019, after surviving the shooting which claimed the life of Patrice. She returned two years later, only to leave the island again this second time for safety reasons after her involvement in a high profile undercover mission.

Some viewers were disappointed to see Florence leave, particularly since a romance between her and Little's DI Neville Parker had been teased before it was ultimately shut down a week before Florence's exit.

After her final episode aired, however, one Death In Paradise fan shared his own elevator pitch for a spin-off focusing on Florence and a possible love story with Neville, who is originally from Manchester, in the future.

"Death in Paradise. Hoping for a spin-off. Neville sadly returns to Manchester, only to find that's where Florence ended up!" the fan wrote in a tweet on February 1.

Little soon gave this idea his stamp of approval, writing: "Let's get it written."

While Florence's departure was heartbreaking to see for some fans, it opened up new opportunities for Sergeant Naomi Thomas (Shantol Jackson).

Initially hesitant to take on the role of DS after Florence left, Naomi opened up to Officer Marlon Pryce (Tahj Miles) about her worries about taking on the position.

Later on in the episode, however, Naomi's confidence got a boost after a successful arrest and some brilliant detective work, convincing Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) to offer her the job.

Death in Paradise airs on Fridays at 9pm on BBC One.
