Olivier Giroud leads AC Milan to win in Milan Derby with two goals in less than four minutes

AC Milan came back to win the Derby della Madonnina, 2-1, on Saturday thanks to a pair of goals from French veteran striker Olivier Giroud.

Giroud, 35, joined AC Milan in July 2021 and did not play in the last meeting with Inter Milan in November. But with Zlatan Ibrahimovic out of action due to an Achilles injury, Giroud was forced into action and came up big for AC Milan.

The first goal Saturday came in the 75th minute when Giroud won back possession for AC Milan and then scored when a deflection found him at the back post.

Just a few minutes later, Giroud found the back of the net again when he took a pass in the box and pivoted to fire a shot around an Inter Milan defender.

Giroud's pair of goals gave AC Milan only its second win against Inter Milan in the last nine meetings of the two clubs. It also dropped Inter Milan's lead over AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table to just one point.
