PITTSBURGH — Black History Honors Salutes Alvin Ailey.

Ailey was one of the most influential African Americans choreographers of modern dance. He created ballets to showcase the careers of African American dancers.

Also, he founded the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in New York City in 1958.
