Antone Bernstein, age 90 of Albany, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2022. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 1 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Tom Chandler officiating. Interment followed in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Antone Benjamin Bernstein was born Sept. 7, 1931 in Shackelford County, Texas to Paul Oswald Bernstein and Olga Ziehr. He grew up in Shackelford County and later graduated from Albany High School. He married Betty Fay Dodd in Breckenridge on April 1, 1961.

Mr. Bernstein worked for TXDOT for over 30 years until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed collecting arrowheads and coins. He also enjoyed spending his time with his cows out at the farm.

Mr. Bernstein was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Bernstein; his son, Steven Bernstein; his parents, Paul and Olga Bernstein; three brothers, Ernest, Ray and Emmet Bernstein.

Mr. Bernstein is survived by his daughter, Sheila Cowan and husband Gary of Sweetwater; two brothers, Marvin Bernstein of Winchendon, Massachusetts, James Bernstein of Austin; four grandchildren, Hope Mitchell of Abilene, Tony Kirkes of Longview, Johnny Bernstein of Abilene, Geoff Smoot of Abilene; five great grandchildren, Garrett Hill, Aubrey Kirkes, Nathen Mitchell, Courtney Mitchell, Asher Kirkes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
