Mike Bobo is back in Athens as an analyst on the Georgia football staff.

During a Wednesday press conference, Kirby Smart was asked about hiring Bobo on staff.

“There is a lot of value in the experiences he’s had,” Smart told reporters. “He’s been a head coach. He’s been an offensive coordinator in our conference. He knows our conference. The five hour radius we recruit in, he’s extremely versed. He has a ton of relationship value. As far as his role, that’ll play out as we go along.”

Bobo returns to UGA after serving on Bryan Harsin’s staff at Auburn as offensive coordinator and quarterback in 2021. Bobo played quarterback at Georgia from 1993-to-1997. He has been in coaching since 1999, getting his start as a UGA grad assistant.

Bobo is best known for being on Mark Richt’s staff from 2001-to-2014. Bobo was the Bulldogs quarterbacks coach from 2001-to-2006. He was promoted to offensive coordinator ahead of the 2007 season.

Bobo took the Colorado State head coaching job ahead of the 2015 season. After being let go by CSU, he returned to the SEC as offensive coordinator and QB coach on Will Muschamp’s South Carolina staff for the 2020 season. Muschamp joined the UGA staff last year.
