Steen was demoted to AHL Providence from the active roster Wednesday, per Mark Divver of the New England Hockey Journal.
Steen has averaged 11:10 of ice time and recorded four points over his last 15 NHL appearances. His most recent point was a goal in a 3-2 victory over Winnipeg on Jan. 22.
