College Basketball | Mount Union sophomore Christian Parker is national Player of the Week

Mount Union sophomore Christian Parker has been named the United States Basketball Writers Association National Player of the Week for NCAA Division III men's basketball.

Parker averaged 24 points, 10.3 rebounds per game and shot 68.6% from the floor in leading the No. 11-ranked Purple Raiders to three wins last week.

He started the week with a 26-point, eight-rebound performance off the bench in an 81-62 win over La Roche (Pa.) on Monday.

On Wednesday, he came off the bench again and hit 10-of-14 from the floor as he finished with a double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds in an 89-80 win against John Carroll.

He finished off the week with another double-double getting 18 points and 12 rebounds, this time as a starter, in a 93-71 win over Ohio Northern.

Parker, also the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week, has played in all 18 games and leads the Raiders in scoring (18.8) and is second in rebounding (7.8).

Mount Union (16-2, 9-2 OAC) takes a six-game win streak to Baldwin Wallace Wednesday for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
