We’re learning more about a Las Vegas man arrested for a series of wrong-way crashes along the 215.
The suspect, Daniel Asseff was in court Tuesday morning for a hearing.
Asseff has already been convicted of two DUI’s and is now facing a third DUI.
Prosecutors allege he was high on meth and heroin while driving the wrong way on the 215 last week.
This caused multiple crashes involving cars and bicyclists near Sahara and Fort Apache to 215 and Sahara.
Prosecutors told the judge that Asseff was intentionally trying to run over pedestrians and hit other cars.
Asseff is facing multiple charges including attempted murder, battery and DUI.
His other DUI convictions came in 2016 and 2020.
The judge called the allegations disturbing, and this was Asseff’s response to driving the wrong way on the 215.
“That was for Dale Earnhardt Sr., the Intimidator. Told me to open that for racetrack for NASCAR and Indy car racing if approved by Mayor Goodman for twice a year. They want that use that as a Grand Prix racetrack to open it wrong way backward,” Asseff said in court.
The judge set bail at $500,000.
Asseff must also be evaluated for competency.
