FSU football: Thoughts on Ron Dugans and Odell Haggins extensions

The Vic Fangio to the Miami Dolphins talk has gone back and forth but it appears that after the Super Bowl, Fangio will sign a contract with Miami. This was reported earlier and it appears to be nothing more than the timing at this point. Fangio brings a lot of NFL experience to that coaching position but he brings more than that with him. He brings the seeds for the Miami Dolphins’ future.

The Miami Dolphins are still making a coaching move, no Danny Crossman is still on the staff but Matt Applebaum is not. According to Armando Salguero, the Dolphins are parting ways with Applebaum after one season. Apparently, not having the coaching ability to make the current Dolphin’s offensive line a gem is a reason for the firing. Salguero says that Applebuam was relieved, in part, because OC Frank Smith needed to take time to help him coach the line and the team is now looking for someone to handle it themselves.

Well turns out, Vic Fangio will be the next defensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins. I realize I wrote yesterday that the Miami Dolphins should slam the door on Vic Fangio after the whole accepting the position and still being linked to the 49ers and the Broncos coordinator positions. I still stand by that although I should have added in the article that if Vic Fangio ends up actually being the Dolphin’s defensive coordinator I will get over it in 11 minutes. I’m here to tell you that I got over Fangio’s alleged transgressions in 92 seconds. Credit to me for not dwelling.

It pains me to write this considering Vic Fangio is a fellow northeast PA man. I know that after this gets published I will have virtually zero chance of sharing a bucket of suds at The Roosevelt Beer Garden. Still, given how he is reportedly jerking the Miami Dolphins around, the Miami Dolphins need to look elsewhere to fill their defensive coordinator position.
