Vegas Golden Knights’ Brayden McNabb celebrates his goal against the San Jose Sharks during the second period of an NHL hockey game Friday, Oct. 4, 2019, in San Jose, Calif.

Defenseman Brayden McNabb has been part of many memorable nights in Vegas Golden Knights history, usually blocking a shot or helping kill a penalty to pave the way for a hard fought win.

An original member of the franchise, the 31-year-old will be with the organization at least through 2024-25 season after agreeing to a three-year contract extension, the club announced this afternoon. The extension is for an average annual value of $2.8 million.

McNabb came to Vegas in the expansion draft from the Kings, where he only averaged 15:04 minutes of ice time over 49 games in 2016-17.

In Vegas, he quickly became of top four defenseman, and this season has been one of the Golden Knights’ most consistent players in leading the league with 110 blocked shots.

He’s the lone player in the league with at least 100 hits and 110 blocked shots on the season, and for his tenure with Vegas, is the franchise leader with 634 blocks and ranks second with 824 hits.

“I pride myself on being good defensively, and I think I’ve done that,” McNabb told the Sun two weeks ago. “I always like to be physical, and when I can, I’m going to do that.”

There’s no question that McNabb is one of the team’s most respected players.

“Those are the little things that maybe don’t get noticed by the normal eye that we see day-in and day-out that, especially come playoff time, help you win hockey games,” fellow defenseman Alex Pietrangelo says. “It’s not easy to do what he does. He plays hard minutes; he plays the game hard. It’s a real treat to have a guy like that on your team, and a guy that loves doing it.”

The team also announced extensions with goalie Logan Thompson (three years at $766,667) and forward Michael Amadio (two years at $762,500).
