Celtic will be the team with momentum on their side heading into the upcoming Glasgow Derby against the Rangers. The Hoops have managed to quickly cut down the gap with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side to two points. And as a result, if they can get a win on Wednesday, they will go top of the Scottish Premiership after a long, long time. It is safe to say that a lot is riding on the result of the game.

Celtic will have the home advantage this time around and will be hoping to make it count. The Rangers had won the first Glasgow Derby of the season, 1-0 at Ibrox. This is a chance for Ange Postecoglou’s side to get their win back.

On that day, Celtic had played the better football as well. But ultimately, it was the Rangers who had proven to be more clinical in front of goal. The Hoops have improved a lot since then though.

Carl Starfelt, who arrived in the summer and has become a regular in the starting XI, has sent a strong message ahead of the Glasgow Derby. As reported by The Herald (via 67 Hail Hail), he said:

"“We’re a better team now from the last Rangers game. We’ve come a long way in our football. I hope we can show that on Wednesday night. We feel good, we are in a good run of games. We have won a lot of games and I feel the confidence is very high in the dressing room.“I think we are ready for it. It is going to be a good game and we are going to approach it like every other game and we are going to do our best to win it.”"

Starfelt makes big Celtic claim before facing the Rangers

It is safe to say that this Celtic side has developed a lot since that early season defeat at the hands of the Rangers.

They look much more settled now, have improved defensively and have also shown the ability to grind out a result even when they are not at the top of their game. The 1-0 victory over Dundee United, through a 90th minute goal from Liel Abada, was proof of that.

They have their fair share of worries as well though with key players like Kyogo, Callum McGregor, David Turnbull, Nir Bitton, Yosuke Ideguchi, Tom Rogic, Daizen Maeda and a few others set to miss the game against the Rangers.
