Portland Public Schools says it will not displace an existing elementary school to make room for one that needs to be moved.

The district is currently looking for a new location for Harriet Tubman Middle School because it's too close to a proposed I-5 widening project.
Neighbors were concerned in the move they may lose a school entirely.
PPS says that's not the case and they're actively looking for a new location for the middle school.

They hope to get funding for that move from Gov. Kate Brown in the upcoming legislative session.
