Austin Reaves played a strong game in the Los Angeles Lakers loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Friday. As a result, Reaves was called to speak to the media for the first time since a hilarious interaction between him and LeBron James from the win over the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday went viral.

(LeBron hasn't played in the Lakers two games since due to knee soreness, and Reaves did not do media after the team's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday.)

Predictably, the undrafted rookie was asked about what went down between him and LeBron. As is the case with most things that blow up on the Internet, I regret to inform you that the explanation was not quite as amusing as the meme itself.

“The first time I've ever been a meme, I guess,” Reaves cracked. “We were just talking about an ATO (“after time out”). Coach had drew something up. Think it was just a big misunderstanding. There was no conflict involved. He was just talking like normal. Just caught me off-guard. Didn't realize I did it. But definitely got into the locker room and my phone was blowing up.”

Over the past couple of days, both LeBron and Reaves have had some fun with the clip. LeBron posted a screengrab to his Instagram page, comparing it to the classic conversation between Tony Stark and Peter Parker. Reaves shared the clip to his own IG story.

Reaves promoted a sponsored contest, offering fans a reward for coming up with the best caption for the meme.
