Reading Parking Authority will provide free parking to city residents due to the predicted snowstorm.

AccuWeather forecasts 1 to 4 inches of snow for Berks County, starting Friday night and running into Saturday afternoon.

Gates at all parking authority garages will be open beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday through 4 p.m. Saturday.

Exit gates will remain up until 4 p.m. Saturday. Payment will be required to exit after gates close.

Anyone using a parking authority garage during these hours is asked to pull a ticket to enter and can exit without payment. Tickets should be kept where they can be easily accessed if needed when exiting.

City residents are encouraged to move their vehicles to a garage so snowplows can clean the streets as effectively as possible.

RPA is also clearing snow downtown to make the area accessible to residents and patrons of local businesses. All metered parking spaces within the area will be designated as “No Parking” during that time. Meter enforcement will resume 4 p.m. Saturday.
