Kaleb Booth from Carroll High (middle with ball) splits a pair of Storm Lake defenders for a layup attempt during a Dec. 11 game played in Carroll.

The revenge tour claimed another victim Tuesday night.

For the Carroll High boys basketball team, they were able to get another revenge win, this time taking down Winterset 54-53.

In the final minute of the game it seemed that Winterset was going to be able to claim their second win over Carroll this season, but Booth was able to get a defensive stop. From there the Tigers moved down the floor and put their trust in the seniors’ hands. He moved to the top of the key and took a shot , hitting nothing but net and giving the Tigers a lead with just under 20 seconds remaining on the clock.

The lead was just one point, but it soon extended to three as the Tigers were able to make a defensive stop. The ball was given to Booth once again, this time he took the ball on the inside and drew a foul.

After two added free throws the Tigers had a solid lead. Winterset tried to make a game-tying shot, but they weren’t able to get that to fall, and had to settle for a two pointer giving Carroll the win.

For Carroll it is their second-straight conference win over a team that had bested them earlier in the season. Last week the Tigers beat North Polk, avenging an earlier loss. With Tuesday night’s win over Winterset there is just one more conference opponent left that has beaten Carroll this year, Ballard. The Bombers happen to be the next opponent for Carroll.

Booth scored 27 points to lead the Tigers. Caden Kock had nine points. Evan Hammer finished with eight points.

Tanner Gotto had six points. Nick Macke scored two points and Ethan Lengeling added another two points.

CARROLL GIRLS FALL TO WINTERSET

After leading after the first quarter, the Tigers weren’t able to match their same offensive effort for the rest of the game.

A 12-6 first quarter lead wouldn’t hold as Winterset was able to gain an eventual 50-31 victory over Carroll.

Winterset was able to gain the offenive advantage scoring 44 points in the final three quarters as the Tigers were limited to just 19 points.

Camryn Schable led Carroll with 10 points. Katelyn Aden and Addison Klocke both had five points each. Hannah Jorgensen, Madison Tunning and Ava Gross all scored three points each.
