From the shore to the mountains, no one is escaping the January nor’easter that is coming to the state.
Areas along the coast are expected to see the most accumulation of snow. But northern New Jersey will also get its fair share. But those who were out at the Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon say that they are hoping Jersey Shore residents can ship some snow their way.
“We make our own snow here, so we have a base of all of our snow-making and then we get some nice white fluffy natural stuff on top and the conditions are the best,” says Mountain Creek General Manager Chris Haggerty.
Many of the visitors told News 12 that skiing, snowboarding and gondola riding were even better Friday by the fact that there were some snow flurries.
“That fact that it’s snowing makes it better. I’ve never actually been snowboarding when it’s really snowing, so I’m actually pretty excited,” says Joe Romano.
Gabriella Ciasullo is a beginning snowboarder and was learning how to do it on Friday.
"It’s my first time down and the snowflakes are falling. It was beautiful,” she says.
The snow that will come to the area on Saturday will be more than enough to keep the slopes covered with snow. But it just won’t be as much snow as in other parts of the state.
“Sometimes those storms track in and they hit the mountain and sometimes stall - and we can end up with even more,” says Haggerty. “And anyone who is down the shore that wants to join us - encourage them to get here safely. Wait for roads to be clear and the snow will be here waiting for them.”
Haggerty says that lift tickets and rentals will go fast with all the fresh snow on the ground.
