Another Sixers Ben Simmons trade offer turned down by Hawks

The Hawks have apparently rejected another major offer from the Sixers that would have sent Ben Simmons to Atlanta.

It was earlier reported that the Atlanta Hawks had already turned down a major trade offer from the Philadelphia 76ers in a potentially landscape-shifting deal that would bring Ben Simmons to Atlanta. As it turns out, the Sixers tabled another blockbuster proposal which apparently, was also rejected by the Hawks.

According to reports, the Sixers offered Simmons and Tobias Harris to Atlanta in exchange for John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and Danilo Gallinari. The Hawks reportedly turned down that offer because they were uninterested in Harris and they felt that it would be difficult for him to trade him to another team. Be that as it may, it sounds like Philly had a similar, yet even more audacious offer that was unsurprisingly rejected as well (h/t Matt Moore of Action Network):

Two sources familiar with talks said at least one offer from the Sixers was Simmons and Harris for John Collins, Bogdan Bogdanovic, and three first-round picks. It will not surprise you to learn the Hawks were not interested in such a framework, though their interest in Simmons is very real.

Talks about persistence from the Sixers. In lieu of Danilo Gallinari, Philly wanted no less than three future first-round picks added to the deal. It is clear that the Sixers still have a ridiculous valuation for the former Rookie of the Year and with Tobias Harris now in the mix as well, Philly is clearly looking to bag a major haul in any potential deal. The fact that they are now willing to deal Harris is also a major development in this respect.

As for John Collins, the 6-foot-9 Hawks power forward has long been linked to a move away from Atlanta. It sounds like he too could finally be making his way out in the coming weeks.

It is worth noting that as the report states, the Hawks have a “very real” interest in Simmons. Their current valuation of the 25-year-old All-Star point guard may not meet that of the Sixers, but it would not be surprising if these two teams are able to find a common ground before the February trade deadline.
